See DetailsLearn Graphite Crucibles Basics: definition, types and usages
Definition
Graphite crucibles are mainly used for melting special alloy steels, non-ferrous metals and their alloys in combination with different types of clinkers. Graphite crucibles are an important part of the performance and application of refractory materials.
Types
Due to different properties, applications and use conditions, the raw materials, production methods, process technology and product type specifications of different types of graphite crucibles are different. The common types of graphite crucibles are: graphite clay crucible, silicon carbide crucible, high purity graphite crucible / machined graphite crucible.
Applications
The graphite crucible has a low coefficient of thermal expansion at high temperatures, and it has some strain resistance at rapid temperatures. It resists acidic and alkaline solutions, has excellent chemical stability, and doesn’t react with anything during melting. Since the inner wall of the graphite crucible is smooth, molten metal liquid does not adhere to the inner wall. Therefore, the liquid has superior fluidity and castability, so it can be cast and molded in all kinds of molds. This makes graphite crucibles well-suited for melting non-ferrous metals and alloys and smelting alloy tool steel.
